Rethinking Our Relationship with Work
Sunday Feb 19, 2023
Sunday Feb 19, 2023
For many of us, the hustle is nonstop. Our culture pushes us to measure our own value in terms of what we can accomplish and what we can acquire. So we tend to work as if our self-worth is on the line, afraid of what will happen if we ever slow down. But it doesn’t have to be that way! In our sermon today, we’ll see that God designed work to have limits, freeing us to find our true identity in the relationship we cultivate with God. Join us for this final part of our series, “God at Work at Work.”

The (Real) Purpose of Work
Sunday Feb 05, 2023
Sunday Feb 05, 2023
It’s easy for us to approach our work as just a financial necessity and not much more. But there’s a growing sense in our society that work should be about ‘something more’ than just a paycheck. In today’s sermon, we’ll see that God not only affirms this desire for ‘something more,’ but God also shows us what that ‘something more’ is meant to be. So whatever ‘work’ looks like in your life, join us for this exploration of the real purpose of work as we kick off our new series, ‘God at Work at Work.’

When I’m Questioning
Sunday Jan 29, 2023
Sunday Jan 29, 2023
Many of us were taught that the faith God requires of us is a kind of ‘blind faith’ that leaves little room for questions. So when our life experience inevitably raises new questions of faith, we can feel deeply unsettled and distant from God. But in today’s sermon we’ll see that Jesus invites his followers, not to narrow-minded ‘blind faith,’ but to a journey of faith in which questions and new discoveries lead to deeper understanding. Join us for this final part of our series ‘Where is God?’ and learn how your questions of faith may be leading you closer to God.

When I’m Struggling
Sunday Jan 22, 2023
Sunday Jan 22, 2023
When we’re going through struggles in any arena of life, it can sometimes be difficult to feel God’s presence. In fact, our struggles themselves can sometimes feel like evidence of God’s absence from us. In today’s sermon, we’ll learn about a famous biblical figure who felt exactly the same way. And we’ll discover how he was able to find God, to trust God, and to lean on God, even through a season of serious struggle. Join us as we continue our series, ‘Where is God?’

When I’m Rejected
Sunday Jan 15, 2023
Sunday Jan 15, 2023
We all face different forms of rejection in life, which can be painful. Many of us have faced rejection in the church, which is especially painful. Sadly, many churches have a habit of rejecting people who are different, sometimes citing Scripture for justification. But in today’s sermon we’ll see how Jesus’ original followers took a powerful stand against that painful message of rejection and set a precedent of radically expansive embrace. Join us as we continue our series, ‘Where is God?’

Embodiment
Sunday Dec 18, 2022
Sunday Dec 18, 2022
One mystery at the heart of the Christmas story is that God comes to be with us as one of us–that is, as a human person with a body. This flies in the face of our typical assumption that ‘being spiritual’ or ‘getting closer to God’ has nothing to do with our bodies. Christmas reveals to us that God doesn’t just love our souls, but God loves our bodies as well. This has important implications for how we relate to our bodies, how we treat others, and how we experience the presence of God. We’ll explore some of these implications in today’s sermon. Join us as we wrap up our series, ‘Honest Advent.’

Identity
Sunday Dec 11, 2022
Sunday Dec 11, 2022
Every day we’re bombarded with different voices telling us what we should do and who we should be if we want to attain the satisfaction in life that we long for. And yet, that sense of satisfaction often seems as far away as ever. So how can we make sure we’re listening to the right voices? How can we hold onto the right understanding of who we are and what we should do amid all the noise? In today’s sermon, we’ll learn about a biblical figure who faced similar questions and we’ll see how he models for us a helpful way to deal with the many (often misleading) voices in our lives. Join us as we continue our series, Honest Advent.
