Sunday Mar 03, 2024
Sunday Mar 03, 2024
Anxiety is something that affects us all. Not only is it unpleasant, but it can often be debilitating. In fact, about 20% of American adults suffer from a diagnosable anxiety disorder, which is also the most common mental health disorder worldwide. So in today’s sermon we’ll consider how our faith can contribute to the work of managing anxiety. Without being glib about the struggle and acknowledging the vital role of modern resources, we’ll consider what Jesus teaches us about overcoming our worries, big and small. Join us as we continue our series, ‘Questions Jesus Asked.’

Whether it’s fear of the future, fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of loss, fear of scarcity, or anything else we’re afraid of, the fear in our lives can sometimes be overwhelming. Fear takes a toll on our physical, psychological, and emotional health, often keeping us from the life we want. Fear can also keep us from the life God wants for us. So in today’s sermon, we’ll learn a powerful lesson from Jesus about how we can keep even our greatest fears in check and find enduring peace. As consumeristic modern Americans, we spend a lot of our lives focused on ourselves and fulfilling our own wants. As a result, we sometimes assume God must be as concerned as we are with helping us get the things we want. But in today’s sermon, we’ll see that Jesus challenges us to drop that false assumption so that we can follow him into a life far greater than we could ever find through our typical self-centered consumption. “Losing and Finding Forgiveness” // Daniel Childs
Sunday Jan 28, 2024
Sunday Jan 28, 2024
If we’re honest, forgiveness is a subject we’d usually rather avoid. Forgiveness is unnatural, uncomfortable, and in some cases very complicated. Plus, we all know that nursing a grudge can feel so good! However, Jesus insists that while forgiveness may be challenging, it’s simply too important for us to avoid. So in today’s sermon, we’ll unpack one of Jesus’ most powerful teachings about why forgiveness matters and we’ll reflect on what it means for us. Don’t miss this first part of our new series, ‘Freeing the Soul.’

“The World is Watching” // Charlie Baber

Sunday Jan 21, 2024
Unfortunately, Christians in our society have earned a reputation for being judgy, exclusive, homophobic, and self-righteous. No wonder we’re sometimes embarrassed and ashamed to identify ourselves as Christian. But what if we took a different approach? Maybe we can’t change the national reputation of Christians, but we can change the perception of people around us. What if we showed the people in our lives a different, more humble, more loving image of what it means to be a Christian? What if we showed the people around us what Jesus’ love *actually* looks like? We wouldn’t just change minds, but we could also change hearts and lives…just like Jesus calls us to do. Join us as we conclude our series, “Influencers.”

“Building Others Up” // Daniel Childs
Sunday Jan 14, 2024
Sunday Jan 14, 2024
If we’re honest, most of us spend a lot of our time working to improve, advance, achieve, earn, acquire, impress, or otherwise build ourselves up in our own eyes or the eyes of others. We often assume that building ourselves up is the way to fulfillment in life…and yet we never seem to arrive. So in today’s sermon we’ll discover that Jesus calls us to a better way. Jesus challenges us to shift our focus away from ourselves so that we can focus on something much more important and much more fulfilling. Join us as we continue our series, ‘Influencers.’

“Surrounded” // Daniel Childs
Sunday Jan 07, 2024
Sunday Jan 07, 2024
In this season of resolutions, many of us have adopted new goals for the year ahead. But as we muster up the willpower to make some changes, there’s something we often forget: Our success doesn’t just depend on our personal resolve. It depends on the people who surround us. The influence of those around us is almost always stronger and more persistent than our own willpower. In today’s sermon, we’ll discover how Jesus leveraged this insight to help his followers grow in faith. And we’ll explore some practical implications that will empower us for significant new steps in our faith journey in 2024. Join us as we kick off our new series, “Influencers.”

Sunday Dec 24, 2023
Despite the idyllic ways the Christmas season is depicted in popular media, this is a time of year that’s unavoidably messy. Whether it’s the financial strain, the family tensions, spiritual baggage from our past, or just the constant feeling of unpreparedness, Christmas can leave us feeling like we’re a mess. So in today’s sermon, we’ll take some time to reflect on the extraordinary story of our God coming to meet us right in the middle of the mess.
