“While It Was Still Dark” // Daniel Childs
Sunday Mar 31, 2024
Sunday Mar 31, 2024
We tend to associate Easter with brightness: warm spring sunshine, pastel outfits, colorful flowers, etc. But one of the eyewitnesses reminds us that the original Easter didn’t happen while things were bright. In fact, Easter happened while it was dark. Very dark. So in today’s sermon, we’ll learn what that shows us about God and we’ll discover the unshakeable hope we can find through any darkness we face. Join us as we celebrate the life-changing story of Jesus’ resurrection!

“Whom Will You Love?” // Daniel Childs
Sunday Mar 17, 2024
Sunday Mar 17, 2024
We’ve all encountered Christians who don’t love like Jesus. And if we’re honest, most of us have been Christians who don’t love like Jesus. And that means we’ve fallen short of our God-given calling to show the people around us what the love of Jesus looks like. So in today’s sermon we’ll explore one reason why we so often fail at Christlike love and we’ll learn from Jesus how we can do better. Because this world needs us to do better. “What Do You Live For?” // Daniel Childs
Sunday Mar 10, 2024
Sunday Mar 10, 2024
I’m busy. You’re busy. Everyone’s busy. But what are we busy for? What are we living for? Most of us are doing life so fast, we rarely evaluate what we’re giving our lives to. Perhaps if we’d pause, we’d recognize that we’re giving a lot of our life to things that don’t actually give life to us. In today’s sermon, we’ll consider an insightful question from Jesus that forces us to evaluate what’s really at the center of our life and what‘s really worth living for. Join us as we continue our series, ‘Questions Jesus Asked.’

In fact, about 20% of American adults suffer from a diagnosable anxiety disorder, which is also the most common mental health disorder worldwide. So in today’s sermon we’ll consider how our faith can contribute to the work of managing anxiety. Without being glib about the struggle and acknowledging the vital role of modern resources, we’ll consider what Jesus teaches us about overcoming our worries, big and small. Most of us live with a lot of fear. Whether it’s fear of the future, fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of loss, fear of scarcity, or anything else we’re afraid of, the fear in our lives can sometimes be overwhelming. Fear takes a toll on our physical, psychological, and emotional health, often keeping us from the life we want. Fear can also keep us from the life God wants for us. So in today’s sermon, we’ll learn a powerful lesson from Jesus about how we can keep even our greatest fears in check and find enduring peace. As consumeristic modern Americans, we spend a lot of our lives focused on ourselves and fulfilling our own wants. As a result, we sometimes assume God must be as concerned as we are with helping us get the things we want. But in today’s sermon, we’ll see that Jesus challenges us to drop that false assumption so that we can follow him into a life far greater than we could ever find through our typical self-centered consumption. Get ready to be pushed and join us as we kick off our Lent sermon series, “Questions Jesus Asked.”

“Losing and Finding Forgiveness” // Daniel Childs
Sunday Jan 28, 2024
Sunday Jan 28, 2024
If we’re honest, forgiveness is a subject we’d usually rather avoid. Forgiveness is unnatural, uncomfortable, and in some cases very complicated. Plus, we all know that nursing a grudge can feel so good! However, Jesus insists that while forgiveness may be challenging, it’s simply too important for us to avoid. So in today’s sermon, we’ll unpack one of Jesus’ most powerful teachings about why forgiveness matters and we’ll reflect on what it means for us. Don’t miss this first part of our new series, ‘Freeing the Soul.’
