Defy Division
Sunday Aug 27, 2023
Sunday Aug 27, 2023
Our politically polarized society pushes us to be divided from those on the other side. Leaders on all sides wield the weapon of divisiveness in seemingly every fight. We’re led to believe that disagreement necessitates division. But Jesus begs to differ. In fact, one of Jesus’ chief worries was that his diverse followers would succumb to these divisive ways of the world. So in today’s sermon, we’ll explore why Jesus was so worried about division, how we can disagree differently, and the difference it makes when we do. Join us as we wrap up our series, ‘Not In It to Win It.’

One of Jesus’ most famous, most questioned, and (honestly) least obeyed commands is: ‘Love your enemies.’ In today’s sermon, we’ll explore the difficult-but-liberating dynamics of loving our enemies, especially in our polarized political context. Join us as we continue our series, ‘Not In It To Win It.’

We’ll consider how Jesus treats people who are wrong and what it would mean for us to follow his lead. Join us as we kick off our new series, “Not In It To Win It.”

Many of us would say that our lives haven’t exactly unfolded according to our plans. We had hoped for something better or perhaps just something different. Nevertheless, here we are…living through the unexpected. In today’s sermon, we’ll look at the biblical story of a woman who can certainly relate. We’ll learn from her example how we can stay connected with God and find renewed purpose as we navigate the unexpected (and sometimes unwanted) turns life takes. The Meaning(s) of the Cross
Sunday Jul 09, 2023
Sunday Jul 09, 2023
If you spend much time at church, you’ll frequently see and hear references to the cross. That’s because Jesus’ death and its meaning are foundational to the Christian faith. But what exactly is the meaning of Jesus’ death? In today’s sermon, we’ll wrestle with that big question as we challenge one popular view and explore some alternative perspectives rooted in our Methodist tradition. Join us as we kick off our new series, ‘And Can It Be.’

True Love
Sunday Jul 02, 2023
Sunday Jul 02, 2023
Jesus calls us to love others as he loves us. And yet, so many of us have experiences where someone’s “love” looked more like an attempt to control. Are we really loving like Jesus if it’s only ever on our own terms? This week at Kindred, we’ll explore how to better love others selflessly, and for the sake of the other. Join us as we wrap up our series, ‘Language Lessons.’

In today’s sermon, we’ll explore God’s penchant for partying and the power of sharing our celebrations with God. Join us as we continue our series, ‘Language Lessons.’
